Rising Tides.
I woke up this morning and "trust" is where my heart and mind was. Now, to be honest I can't tell if this where God was pushing me more or if this is just what I know is needed in my life.
As I ask God to "draw me closer" and "send me outside"...sometimes I forget He's listening and He's a good father. Sometimes in the moments where He answers those prayers I forget that I prayed them. As I look around and feel the water beneath my feet and hear the winds violently racing past my ears, I'd be lying if I said my first thought is "Thank you God." I'd be lying if I said my first notion is to remember all the times God has calmed the previous storms. It takes a moment. A moment which I often feel like is a waste of time after the fact because before I began remembering who God is, not just based on what I've read but what I've seen in my own life, there's stress and fear that rob me of time. Stress and fear cause me to wrestle with understanding that life itself is a blessing.
I would like to say if you find yourself in these moments, celebrate the wrestle. God doesn't love you any less and He's fully understanding of the "wrestle". I find that the time in between wrestling and remembering can be shortened. Not just simply praying and requesting things but forcefully reminiscing on all that God has done previously. Unnaturally reminiscing. Weapons.
Lastly...keep wrestling. In the moment you feel like you can't wrestle any more or that the water is rising past your waist line...God WILL reach out his hand and catch you.
Matthew 14:27-33
27 But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”
28 “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”
29 “Come,” he said.
Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”
31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”
32 And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. 33 Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”
